Abstract

Introduction: The dorsal appearance of the hand suffers from changes with aging. Adipose tissue grafts have been successfully used in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery and are therefore an option for hand rejuvenation.

Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of lipotransfer as a treatment for the senile hand.

Methods: An observational, descriptive and longitudinal study was carried out with 64 patients who underwent lipotransfer in the senile hand, in the plastic surgery service of Hospital Hermanos Ameijeiras, from November 2021 to November 2023.

Results: The average age was 52.97 years; 100 % were women. 50 % presented grade-2 photoaging according to Beer's scale. The average amount of fat lipoinjected was 25-50 mL. 88 % of the patients obtained good outcomes. There were no complications. 100 % of the patients were satisfied with the outcomes.

Conclusions: Rejuvenation of the dorsum of the hands with lipoinjection offers good outcomes for reshaping and rejuvenating the senile hand with a high degree of satisfaction on the part of the treated patients.
