Abstract

Introduction: Laparoscopic hysterectomy is a different approach, which requires additional training.

Objective: To characterize the results of laparoscopic hysterectomy in benign and premalignant conditions.

Methods: A longitudinal, prospective study was conducted in patients with an indication for laparoscopic hysterectomy due to benign and premalignant conditions between October 2021 and June 2023. The sample consisted of 44 patients, and the variables studied were age, preoperative diagnosis, surgical time, intraoperative bleeding, perioperative complications, laparoconversion, and postoperative stay.

Results: The mean age was 47 years, and uterine fibroid was the most frequent nosological entity; the mean surgical time and intraoperative bleeding were 130.7 minutes and 54.4 ml, respectively; laparoconversion was necessary in 4.5% of cases. Discharge within the first 24 hours was granted to 93.2% of those operated on, and there were three complications stratified in groups III and IV of the Clavien-Dindo classification (6.8%).

Conclusions: Laparoscopic hysterectomy in benign and premalignant conditions is a reproducible procedure with adequate training.
