Theodor Billroth: Surgeon, Scientist, Teacher, and Musician

Introduction: Christian Albert Theodor Billroth (1829–1894) was a renowned 19th-century professor and surgeon, considered the founder of modern abdominal surgery, who led an outstanding life as a scientist and passionate music lover.
Objective: To highlight the qualities of German professor Christian Albert Theodor Billroth.
Methods: An observational, retrospective, and analytical study was conducted through a literature review to identify the most reliable information regarding Professor Billroth’s qualities, during a research period spanning from January 2025 to August 2025.
Development: This paper presents elements that emphasize Theodor Billroth’s virtues in various spheres of his professional practice and his dedication to music.
Conclusions: Professor Theodor Billroth, a very special human being, managed to develop all the talents he possessed, despite not having been a brilliant student, but rather an excellent surgeon, a devoted teacher, an ingenious scientist, and a passionate musician.
