Introduction: Rosai-Dorfman disease or sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy is considered a rare benign proliferative histiocytic disease due to alterations of the immunity system.
Objective: To describe the specific characteristics of Rosai-Dorfman disease with oral manifestation, its diagnosis and treatment.
Case presentation: A 4-year-old patient with palatal lesion is presented, diagnosed with Rosai-Dorfman disease. The patient underwent surgical and oncoespecific treatment of the lesion.
Conclusions: Rosai-Dorfman disease is an infrequent disease whose cause and treatment are not known with accuracy. It usually debuts with massive cervical lymphadenopathy and can have extranodal dissemination with oral manifestation, as in the case presented, never seen before, which received surgical and oncoespecific treatment and which, until now, remains with favorable evolution.
